Although most billiard players are not conscious of the millions of mathematical calculations
that they make while playing the game, we thought that the poster should make reference
to this natural genius.
Two streams of equations were placed on the poster. One was placed to show the thought
made by the player. The other extends vertically from the cue ball representing the mathematical
challenges of the game. The point at which the two streams of equations meet is known as the sweet
spot, or the Zone. It is where we all want to be when playing the game - in harmony with the sport.
By the way, if you can solve the equations on the poster, or at least recognize them, let the WSU
Math Department know immediately! They may have an open teaching position for you.
